Good sharp central focus, and depth of field is pretty good for a close up photo of this type but an even larger aperture would help to diffuse the background. The flower suffers a bit from a lack of direct light so the colors are muted and lack contrast. The background is very busy which distracts from the main subject. Changing the angle create a more asymmetrical composition or a pronounced perspective would make the image much more interesting. Alternately, zooming in on the subject and having it fill more of the frame will provide more interest as well as doing away with the distracting background.
2 out of 2 deviants thought this was fair.

Thank you for this. My immediate response is to argue that I was only doing this for fun, but I can see what you're saying; also, in a way, I did ask for it.

I really appreciate your comments and suggestions. They make me wish I had the daylight hours back so I could practice what you're saying.

Is it okay that I ask questions?

Hmm, so if I say I tried to re-shoot the flower today with what you've said in mind, would you mind looking at it?

At least this one doesn't hurt my eyes....
